The History of Cha Cha (Cha)
Cha-Cha-Cha is the newcomer in the world of the Latin American
dances. The dance was first observed in American dance-
halls in the early nineteen fifties.
Shortly after the Mambo was first introduced, a seductive variant
rhythm began to gain popularity, a rhythm that
would ultimately be the foundation of this best known of the
Latin American dances. Called Cha-Cha-Cha, it's slower than Mambo, the rhythm less complicated.
Recently, the name was officially shortened to Cha-Cha.
